Los Ranchos de Albuquerque
Los Ranchos de Albuquerque

Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is an independent village in its own right, which boasts of being an area that is rural, with mountain vistas, the Rio Grande River, and a bosque habitat. The Los Ranchos website labels it "an oasis in the desert." With irregular boundaries, the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque occupies roughly the areas north from about Montano to Alameda Boulevard, and east from the Rio Grande to 2nd Street. This region has been historically an agricultural area, with a small adobe village centered around San Jose de los Ranchos in the Spanish Colonial period. Concern over Albuquerque's population explosion in the years after World War II led residents to incorporate the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque in 1928. In real estate, lot configurations even today reflect the "linea" or "tripa" pattern of long, narrow lots, each retaining its access to precious irrigation water, that allows Los Ranchos residents even today to irrigate pastures for horse or other animals. The 5000+ residents of Los Ranchos remain committed to retaining the village's rural atmosphere. Los Ranchos de Albuquerque boasts many fine horse properties, estates with acreage, and elegant residences.

North Valley
North Valley

The "North Valley" is a somewhat general term, used to refer to the entire area of Albuquerque that is north of Central, west of the railroad tracks, and east of the Rio Grande. The separate areas of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Alameda, and Corrales are often gathered under the umbrella term "North Valley." The North Valley area, as the area of oldest occupation in Albuquerque, features an eclectic array of real estate, that runs the gamut from tiny, modest, older houses through palatial, landed estates along the Rio Grande, to efficient new townhouses recently constructed.

Corrales
Corrales, New Mexico

Located on the west bank of the Rio Grande, just north of Albuquerque is the village of Corrales, known for its centuries-old cottonwoods, artists, agriculture, picturesque adobe homes, and horses galore. Corrales residents love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, with a single main road through town, with various "horse crossing" signs, and one sign warning: "Drive slow, see or village:drive fast, see our judge." Some 7000 Corrales residents love the slower pace of life, old-fashioned charm, and rural lifestyle of Corrales. Property values tend to be high, with most homes situated on about an acre or more of land. Corrales is a popular location with horse lovers, and boasts many fine equestrian estate, as well as other elegant residences.

Alameda
Alameda

Alameda is located north of Alameda Boulevard, on the east side of the Rio Grande, and thus across the river from Corrales. Like the rest of the North Valley, Alameda offers a more rural lifestyle, with irrigated land and large cottonwoods available. Lots are often large, up to an acre or more. More moderately priced properties can often be located in Alameda.
